I’d never ridden an e-bike before, and Coronado felt like the right place to try - calm, open, and a sharp contrast to the architecture and pace of downtown San Diego.
It was easier than I expected, and it let me explore much further than I would have otherwise. Early on I realized I was moving too quickly and missing things, so I had to slow myself down… stop more often, look around, and take in what was around me.
I arrived by ferry and started a loop around the island, eventually dropping down to Silver Strand Beach before heading back toward town. I parked the bike to wander around Hotel del Coronado, grabbed a late lunch along Orange Ave, and finished the loop back toward Centennial Park to return the bike and catch the skyline again from across the water - just as the light was changing from daylight to dusk.
It felt completely different from downtown - and even different from La Jolla and Solana Beach on my previous trip.
