The Floating City

We flew in from Madrid and took a taxi to our hotel, which sat just outside the no-car zone, making our walks into Venice simple and quick. There were plenty of people in the city, but without cars or traffic to navigate, it never felt stressful like some of our earlier stops. The canals and quiet streets were a refreshing change, and the architecture was incredible start to finish.

We made two trips into the city - one for wandering, lunch, and a few souvenirs, and another for dinner (and dessert!). Emma and I shared lasagna, spaghetti, pizza, and alfredo pasta, and everyone managed more gelato and cannolis than we probably should have. The weather was perfect - Venice couldn’t have been better!
